A workshop of how to organise these peer reviews is held at the University premises in Kozani on Tuesday the 4th of February 2020

Project’s  Scope

E-MOB stands for integrated actions towards enhanced e-mobility in European Regions and aims at enhancing e-mobility solutions in regional passenger transport systems through coordinated policy learning and planning. As an ambitious target, the partners strive for influencing in total more than 26 million EUR of Structural and other Funds through 8 policy instruments to be revised in the frame of a series of peer reviews and learning conferences. Based on the outcomes of this interregional learning process (8 good practices and policy recommendations), the partners will jointly elaborate Action Plans for the improved implementation of the selected 4 Structural Fund Programmes and 4 other policy instruments. Actors of regional relevance will be involved in the whole procedure, being invited in the whole interregional learning and action planning process. The engagement of stakeholders will be facilitated by the establishment of 8 Regional Stakeholder Groups. Members of the RSG – together with interested municipalities – will also have the possibility to improve their capacities in turning the policies concerned into actions: Partners will elaborate the E-MOB Guideline and organise regional trainings in e-mobility strategic planning. This coordinated intraregional learning will contribute to plan and implement concrete measures and projects in the field of e-mobility, bringing tangible results to the participating regions.

Kostas Karamarkos is a member of the Western Macedonia Regional Stakeholder’s Group and policy instrument peer reviewer.

Two-day meeting of European partners and project teams of BIGDATA 4RIVERS held on 22 & 23 January 2020 in Athens.

The meeting was organized by the Regional Development Fund of Attica.

The first day included visits and guided tours to places of interest in Attica Region (Schinias National Park, Marathon Lake, Asopos River) where stakeholders had the opportunity to see specific case studies on big data management of water, as well as problems caused by pollution.

On the second day, the meetings of the Project Coordination and Technical Committee were held in the area of Technopolis in Athens, where important innovations and initiatives were discussed by all project partners.

During the Technical Committee, Lead Partner presented detailed plans for the definition of areas of interest and water management with the aim of optimizing water quality and utilizing waste for other uses. Then all the partners discussed the technical details of the project implementation and the problems that arise in their area.

The two days ended with a discussion on best practices for smarter water management and protection in the participating countries.

Kostas Karamarkos supported the Regional Development Fund as an Interreg Europe Expert, member of the Attica Regional Stakeholder’s Group.

Project’s  Scope

BIGDATA4RIVERS is in essence a driver for the generation & exchange of information & knowledge enabling better planning processes & decision-making regarding the local/regional water management. The interregional learning process will allow partners to learn & support each other based on their own experiences in the EU Water Framework directives implementation

The project main outputs are:

• Joint analytical report aiming at identifying the main rivers’ water management policies in the project regions and compare the application level of the water sector European directives allowing partners to identify opportunities & improvement needs of their policy instruments (PI)
• Exchange of experiences activities (site visits, interregional training seminar and interregional workshop)
